Long work vs Hard work

This piece from Seth Godin (pictured) has been sitting in my mind for a couple of weeks.

There are so many layers to these ideas of ‘hard work’ vs ‘long work’, wrapped up in culture and family/societal beliefs, and importantly - belief in oneself too. It makes me wonder how many junctions I’ve stood at through the years…

How often I’ve chosen comfort over discomfort.

The predictable over the fear of the unknown.

How many times I’ve settled for stagnancy over growth.

Somewhere along the way, my mind translated these concepts to ‘heart-work’ and ‘leg-work’.

The long, leg-work being the reps we need to train our muscles for the task at hand, the discipline that forms the foundation of long-term success.

And heart-work?

It’s found where courage and commitment and fear and discomfort meet, the work that will prune and refine you, the place where you leap….or you’ll never know where you might land.

What work needs to be done in you today?
