Have you met yourself for coffee?
You might have seen the viral “I met my younger self for coffee” post trend that I attempted for myself last week. It doesn’t usually cross my mind to jump in on trends, but this one had a pull I couldn’t ignore and I’ve been telling everyone who will listen to give it a try for themselves, even if it’s only for your own eyes.
At its heart, it’s a chance for you to look back on the last few years or decades of your life and pause for a moment to acknowledge just how far you’ve come. It’s a realisation of how all the detours, unexpected twists and close-your-eyes-and-leap moments were all a part of the beautiful bigger picture. It’s an opportunity to build trust in your intuition, and confidence in taking steps into the unknown…because who knows where these doors may open.
I started the year with a mantra that repeated itself over in my head…. “this is the season to bring art to my business and business to my art”.
After all these years in business, and maybe against my inner risk-averse profile, I feel a pull to move away from playing it safe. Safe has served me well to date - some seasons in pursuit of creativity, and other seasons tethered to my desk working the foundations behind it all.
Now, I feel the line is being blurred, making way for the curiosity (and yolo) that seems to come with age and I’m here for it. There’s a lightness to it that I’m loving, and a longing to just play and enjoy the ride.
Is there an area of work where ‘safe’ is no longer cutting it for you?
Maybe it’s within your creative process, or an idea that you haven’t quite let take form. Maybe it’s in your conversations, or the courage it takes to draw new lines, and find new time for things that truly have your heart.
Whatever it may be, may this season be one where you dance joyfully on the edges, take leaps into the unknown, and stay curious while you do.
